The Indian Railways’ PSU, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC), started eCatering services through a specially developed website, www.ecatering.irctc.co.in as well its mobile app “Food on Track”. This started out to help passengers get fresh, delicious and hygienic meals from popular brands and restaurants directly at their seats. Now to keep up with the changing times and tides, the Indian Railways through IRCTC has introduced a WhatsApp communication for railway passengers to order food through the eCatering services. Passengers can order online food by Whatsapp using this new Business Whatsapp number – +91-8750001323.
IRCTC has started utilizing WhatsApp as a method of interacting with passengers in order to facilitate the placement of orders for its well-known and reputable eCatering services. This new addition to the repertoire is a step towards making eCatering services more customer-centric, convenient and easy. The dedicated Business WhatsApp line number – +91-8750001323 is set up for this purpose.
Initially, two phases of the introduction of eCatering services using WhatsApp Communication are envisioned.
IRCTC (Indian Railways’ PSU) offers eCatering services through a specially developed website http://www.ecatering.irctc.co.in/ as well its mobile app “Food on Track”
Once passengers book their e-tickets, they will get a Whatsapp message from the IRCTC Whatsapp business number. They can then follow the links mentioned in that message to book their meals. One of those links will redirect them to the official IRCTC eCatering website and the other one to the Food on Track mobile app.
Also, there won’t be a need to open the website or install the app eventually. The entire order flow may happen within WhatsApp itself.
You can choose your favorite restaurants and meals through IRCTC eCatering services. And they will be delivered right to your train seat at the station of your choice. With numerous food aggregators & brands partnering with IRCTC eCatering, you have the option to order online food by Whatsapp and choose from a wide variety of cuisines. These may include mouth-watering Biryanis, cheesy Pizzas, steamy South Indian, Thalis, Burgers, Chinese, Snacks & Combos. There are plenty of non vegetarian options like Chicken, fish or egg items to global cuisines such as Chinese and Continental. You can get Jain, pure-vegetarian and Sattvic/Satvik/Sattwic/Satvik food options. You can also feast on the local cuisines from wherever you’re traveling.
Today, IRCTC’s eCatering services serves approximately 50000 meals to the customers in a day. This happens through its official website as well as the dedicated app.
In the next phase of the services, WhatsApp number will become an interactive two-way communication platform for the customer. Wherein an AI power chatbot will handle all queries of eCatering services for the passengers. And will also book meals for them.
Currently, IRCTC has implemented this WhatsApp communication for eCatering services on selected trains and passengers. Based on customer feedback and suggestions, the company will enable the same on other trains.
